About Us

The Rainbow Judo Club is now an independently run club in the process of gaining Sport England Bronze Clubmark.
The Rainbow Judo Club has always been based at the Rainbow Leisure Centre and used to be run by the Council.  From June 2009, Eric Salway, the Chairman and Head Coach took over the running of the club and it is now run as an independent judo club.

The club is a registered member of the British Judo Association, (club number 6009) and is fully insured. We operate within the practices and policies of the BJA, and are in the process of gaining Sport England Bronze Clubmark to give recognition to registered standards of welfare, first aid, child protection and student development.

The Rainbow Judo Club only had a junior section up until September 2005 when Eric Salway became the founder member of the Rainbow Senior Judo Club and started up a club for seniors.

The club now has a healthy membership for its junior and senior sections and has produced its own coaches and Black belts.  We also have members who have won national competitions at gold medal standard.
